Not Just Electrodes Anymore...

We've raised over $25K to PT-State-PACs just with your purchases of electrodes since we started.

Humble beginnings indeed.

And although the website is still modest, this is just the beginning. We just added StrengthTape® options to the products you can make contributions as well as Biofreeze® and Elgin® pain relief gels, CanDo® Stretch Straps and we will be gradually adding a lot more! Your purchases will ALWAYS generate contributions to the PAC you choose, and although not all States are represented, nearly all are.

If not, reach to your association and demand from them. It is a free service we provide to all PT.

Leave me a comment.

Til next time.

August PAYS DOUBLE!

We have been doing some background work to improve UX and UI of the website and hope you will feel easier to navigate, but most of all we have GREAT news we would like to share.

For the entire month of August (or until supplies last, of course), PT4PT will double the contributions when you refer a new customer that makes a purchase of any amount and of any product. In other words, instead of 50ç per item purchased, your contributions will be $1.00. For this to happen, whomever you refer obviously needs to be a new customer and so we know to apply the rule, they must name you on the PAC Checkout Form where we added a box for it.

Whatever purchases the new customer make generates the same 50ç per item contribution to the PAC they choose, until they refer someone and we then apply the same rule to them as well, retroactively even.

So, to clarify:

When YOU refer BOB and BOB makes a purchase, BOB fills out the box that says YOU sent him.

BOB's purchase generates a 50ç/item he purchased in contributions to the PAC he chose.

When YOU make a purchase in August, your purchase generates $1.00/item purchase in contributions to the PAC you chose because you referred BOB whom actually became a new contributor.

If BOB in turn refers MARY and MARY makes a purchase, the same thing applies to BOB and MARY and so on, until the end of August.

I think you get the hang of it.

Bottom line is word of mouth is free except it pays the PAC double!

For you that have been supporting your profession this way already is THE WAY to maximize your efforts and OURS in making PT a strong profession.

Share the opportunity with anyone that will benefit. They will save and contribute just like you.

You can see this could catch fire (in a good way!)

Leave me a comment! Post it to Facebook, Tweet it, go social.

Raise a bunch to your PAC!

Over $20,000

HOW IS YOUR PAC DOING?

We are mailing the fundraiser checks from our “Pack 4 ur PAC” today!

The Pack 4 ur PAC campaign, started 2 years ago to support the State PT-PACs and the important work they do, and it continues to grow and demonstrate success but it is not nearly as widespread as it can be. A simple math and you can understand what I mean. A simple math and you can easily calculate how powerful this campaign can actually be to transform PT across all states.

It is in every PT individual’s and PT institution’s best interest to support the PT-PACs in our states and PT4PT provides the tools to do just that with the cost of goods they are already purchasing elsewhere any way, except when purchasing through WWW.PT4PT.ORG they all SAVE and CONTRIBUTE in shot.

It is simple and straight forward: go to www.pt4pt.org and purchase there. Your PAC gets a documented check each quarter for it in the name of the contributor.

We created the system.  All WE (ALL OF US) have to do is send people there for their own benefit and the benefit of the PT profession.

Take advantage. Don’t miss out. It pays.

To date, PT4PT proudly raised over $20,000 to state PT PACs.

How are your fundraising needs?

Reach to us any time to discuss how to improve your quarterly funds.

PT Pub Night & PT4PT

We are joining forces to further support the PT World.

Now you can find PT Pub Night on our home page, where you can support their cause just as you can support the State PT PACs!

50¢ of every electrode pack purchased will go to their campaign, in your name, BUT there is more: PT4PT will add another $10 to that amount on each checkout, until the end if April!

How do you like that?

Play BracketPT free, and support Disabled Sports USA!

Signup for BracketPT 2016 is in full swing! And thanks to some amazing donors – including PT4PT – each FREE BracketPT participant this year will equal a financial contribution to Disabled Sports USA.

So, what is BracketPT? If you’re new to this, the concept is simple.

BracketPT is a challenge to physical therapists, PT students, aides, friends, family, and those who support the profession across the country to compete in a single, online NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament “March Madness” bracket. The goal: to have fun, to earn bragging rights (both in your clinic and across the national PT Pub Night community) and, most important, to raise money for a great cause.

In our inaugural year, BracketPT brought together multiple donors and nearly 400 participants to raise $2,500 for charities such as Special Olympics, Girls on the Run, the Foundation for Physical Therapy, and yes, Disabled Sports USA. We narrowed our focus to a single charity in our second year in order to make the greatest impact possible.

Our 2016 beneficiary, Disabled Sports USA, is a national nonprofit organization with a mission all PTs can get behind: to provide adaptive sports opportunities for people with disabilities to develop independence, confidence and fitness through sports.

Their work truly changes lives.

“First, thank you so much for allowing us to participate again this year!” wrote Dave Simonson, development director for Disabled Sports USA. “We LOVE PT’s, so being included in this fundraiser is especially meaningful to us.”

Donors are already signing up to pledge contributions to Disabled Sports USA based on the number of participants in this year’s tournament. And sponsors such as PT4PT, Cell Staff, BuildPT, NewGradPhysicalTherapy.com, PT Pintcast, GetPT1st, and Vantage Clinical Solutions, have come on board to support our efforts and get the word out.

(By the way, both individual and business/sponsor donations are welcome and can be made here.)

It all adds up to an online effort that’s not only fun for participants, but which also carries with it the potential for physical therapists and PT students to make a single, collective statement in the name of the profession: that no matter age, ability, location or financial background, optimal movement wields the power to change the world, one life at a time.

Just ask our friends at Disabled Sports USA.

CAL-PT-PAC by Paul D. Smith, PT, DPT, Chairperson

Your PAC is Your Future

CAL-PT-PAC PARTNERS WITH PT4PT

The CAL-PT-PAC has partnered with PT4PT to offer electrodes for only$1.99 a pack. With each electrode that you purchase $.50 goes towards advocating for your profession by being donated to the CAL-PT-PAC. To purchase your electrodes all you have to do is click the title link above!

The phrase "talk is cheap" is more than just a cliché in today’s society. It is the way the world, especially politics, operates. Your legislators are in a very difficult position. They are receiving messages from hundreds of healthcare providers, including physical therapists, chiropractors, OTs and MDs. Legislators receive conflicting arguments on a daily basis: one side presenting their argument on an issue, the other side giving opposing facts on the same issue, with each side believing whole-heartedly that they are correct and that the other group is woefully misinformed or trying to get away with something. By financially supporting candidates that understand the issues surrounding the practice of physical therapy we assure a thriving presence in the State Capitol.

By financially supporting your CAL-PT-PAC you will ensure that a single voice dedicated to protecting and advancing the profession will be heard where it is needed most, the State Capitol. Your CAL-PT-PAC is here to help support the most knowledgeable legislators who realize the services you provide to the community are extremely beneficial. By supporting "friends of physical therapy" you will make sure that those in power know how important your profession is to the health of our communities.

Maintaining a financially strong political action committee is the best way to ensure that your profession stays healthy and strong.

-------------------------------------------------------

CAL-PT-PAC Donor,

I would like to share with you a few of the highlights of 2015 as well as themes to consider with the arrival of the New Year. Increasingly, the CAL-PT-PAC is seeing more individual member involvement and local grassroots engagement. As well, we are experiencing increased annual contributions across nearly every contribution category. These are reasons to celebrate! During 2015, a number of CPTA members have taken a personal interest in participating in the election process and in the process of cultivating relationships with their representatives.

As examples:

·Dr. Jason Sanders, PT, DPT, OCS, GCS is intimately involved in the campaign of Mr. Jordan Cunningham, who is running for the 35th Assembly District seat.

·Dr. Sean Johnson, PT, DPT, OCS is actively supporting and promoting a candidate from Southern California, Ms. Phlunte Riddle, who is running for Senate District 25 and is locked into a tight political race that CAL-PT-PAC is monitoring closely.

·CPTA member Mr. Kevin O’Sullivan, PT has accepted an invitation to participate on our behalf in a local Health Advisory Committee established by Assembly Member Jim Patterson.

·Drs. James Syms, PT, DSc, ATC, SCS and Cheryl Resnik, PT, DPT, FNAP, as well as students from Loma Linda and USC, responded to invitations to attend local events for Sen. Morrell and Assembly Member Holden this past summer.

·CPTA President Dr. Chris Powers and Director Sean Johnson attended an intimate meet-and-greet with the California Secretary of State, Alex Padilla.

·Shelley Marchetti, PT attended a Halloween-themed event for Sen. Cathleen Galgiani.

·Dr. Jennifer Roos, PT, DPT, Dr. Jason Gray, PT, DPT, Dr. Andrew Lilles, PT, DPT, OCS, and Kevin O’Sullivan, PT, along with students from CSU Fresno, attended an event for Assembly Member Patterson in Fresno.

·Chris Reed, PT, OCS recently took time to keep engaged and meet with his longstanding legislative friend, Senator Jerry Hill.

·CPTA held another extremely successful student and CPTA legislative day in Sacramento.

This is truly only a fraction of what has occurred in 2015, and it is exactly what we need to be doing year in and year out---being involved---regardless of our need to push or pursue a legislative agenda.

Responding to the needs of the legislators, rather than always coming with a substantial legislative request, is critically important and goes a long way to starting and sustaining relationships, as well as keeping doors and ears open.  Since voters passed Proposition 28 in June, 2012, candidates elected to the Legislature for the first time in 2012 or later may serve a total of twelve years in either house, or a combination of the two houses.

As always, relationships matter, and our ability to remain relevant is dependent upon our commitment to fostering and sustaining these friendships. As the 2016 election cycle gets rolling, the CAL-PT-PAC Trustees will be counting on your continued commitment and investment both personally and financially. Any amount of time spent walking a precinct, manning a phone bank, holding or attending a local fundraiser will go a long way. Any contributions large or small will be prudently applied to helping candidates that understand our profession and our philosophical mission.

Lastly, thank you for your ongoing contributions and support, both personally and financially, to the CAL-PT-PAC. It has truly been my honor to serve as your CAL-PT-PAC Chair for the past two years.

Sincerely,

Paul D. Smith, PT, DPT

Together we raised over $15,000 for State PT Political Action!

What a difference one year makes. Together we raised over $15,000 for State PT Political Action! With the success of our Beta launch, we have expanded our fundraising to almost every state in the country.

In 2015, PT4PT.org raised more money in the state of Florida then any other company for PT related issues. As a result, our collective contributions are helping to make the expansion of the Florida PT practice act a reality! Way to go FPTA Leadership!!!

In 2015:

We made extensive changes to our interface and website to improve ease of checkout

We added almost Every State to our PAC Fundraising List.

Increase product choice and include shipping tracking notifications.

But that’s not all,

We have an entirely new distribution center to improve communication with our customers

Our new electrodes are nationally recognized brands. I am certain that you will like the consistency of the gel quality.

We have the best prices in the industry and have added free shipping on orders over $250.

It would mean a great deal to us if you would provide feedback on your user experience on your next order.

If you find them as amazing as we expect, please consider posting your participation on our twitter and Facebook accounts!!

Together we will change the profession, one PAC at a Time.   Click Link www.PT4PT.org to order right now!

Sincerely,

Chris

P.S. – We are working on additional products that will save you money and help us raise money for our Profession! Keep your eye out in early 2016 ;)

Here is how this works...

No shortage of skepticism amongst PTs. I should know, I am one of the worst (Or the best, as I sincerely believe skepticism is a positive thing), so I figured I could clarify PT4PT and the #ourPack4urPAC campaign we created.

First and foremost, let's agree on a few points:

1.  As we all know, the most significant issues in physical therapy are in the state realm, meaning it is at the state level that our practice acts are decided. Scope of practice, autonomy and protection of our profession happens there, in the state level.

2.  However changes will happen, either defensively or otherwise, they are more easily done by our professional collective, best represented by our state professional associations (_PTA) - Fill the blank with your state letters...

3. Such changes require funds. Money. And this money needs to come from somewhere. It does not come from your annual dues if you are an association member and it does not fall from the sky if you are not a member. It usually comes from fundraising by some PTs and PTAs that have some passion and want to see PT succeed. If and when they succeed raising enough money (and let's face it, they never really raise enough money) and in turn we win whatever battle a given state is engaged, everyone benefits, members or not [Here I should mention that if we are not collectively organized and well planned, we have no chance at protecting anything. This is obvious and goes for any human endeavor, not just this].

In short, we need money. Lots of money.

We could beg you for some. Perhaps do some raffles or throw parties. It's all good, but historically fails. And always ends up being a small reach attempt in which always the same few "get hit" for donations.

OR

We could sell consumables that allow for a margin reasonable to make a difference, over time, from very small amounts month-in-month-out. In fact, consumables made cheaper to be a bargain and still raise funds.

You get the point.

You save by buying cheaper. And do your part by being the generator of funds for whatever state you choose.

And you still get the credit for it.

For the PAC:

In turn, every quarter, PT4PT sends a check amounting to 50ç off of every pack of electrodes sold, to the respective PACs you, the buyer, chose.

The PAC receives the check along with documentation substantiating the contribution so they stay within the rules. Thats is why, upon checkout, you have to fill out information "for the PAC". It makes it so the PAC can accept the money being contributed and subsequently put it to good use. You, the buyer, become a contributing member of the system (for the better) simply by being a frugal consumer.

It is nothing but fiduciary responsibility. Think of it as frugality disguised in professional CIVICISM.

That's it.

No strings. No catch. No gimmick.

Do you want to see PT turn into a very strong, powerful and respected profession? It will take a lot of money. But PTs have been paying too much for their electrodes anyway. And they will keep on buying them anyway. Buy these and see change happen.

Help us share this concept with other PTs and PTAs. Social media makes it really easy and convenient. You know what to do.

Think your hospital, SNF or university wouldn't purchase from us? Think again: We created the means for them to do so and not breach their policies and still get discounted prices. Direct them HERE.

You know what to do.

Will you do it?

Armin

Florida Update by Tad Fisher

Thanks so much to all who utilize PT4PT. Your support is making a difference in Florida PT Advocacy. We are working hard on the final passage of the FPTA priority legislation modernizing the Physical Therapy practice act. This week we hope to pass HB 107 and SB 450 on to Governor Scott to sign into law.

Here is our progress report for the week: HB 107 by Rep. Travis Cummings (R-Orange Park) and SB 450 by Senator Denise Grimsley (R-Sebring) modernize the Physical Therapy Practice Act through patient direct access and continuity of care. Specifically, the legislation modernizes the definition of “practice of physical therapy” to be consistent with comprehensive educational training and national trends. In addition, the bill ensures appropriate use of the title of a physical therapist and a physical therapist assistant. The legislation increases the direct access time frame for physical therapy treatment for patient from 21 days to 30 days.  The bills also ensures seasonal visitors with a referral or consult from a physician licensed in another state can continue care without interruption. 107 is on the calendar of bills ready for House floor consideration. On the Senate side, the full Senate took up and passed SB 450 by a vote of 37 to 0 on January 28th.

It is a New Day

[or it could be] a new day.

It obviously does not depend solely on Chris and I ideals and efforts. For an entire profession to be able to fight on a plain level field takes a lot more than 2 guys, an idea and a website. The idea is really great, but like all other network effect required formulas, it requires the "effect". The network "effect" is YOU. Or the lack of it. Time will tell.

YOU, reading this, however few of you are: if there is fire in your belly, it doesn't matter if you use electrodes everyday or if you despise the practice of electrotherapy. What matters is what this little engine is about and therefore, even if you dont buy them you can always share the idea. Thats where the network comes in. If you are a PT or PTA you will understand that the collective effort is what we have not had, in a meaningful way, EVER, here in the USA. Sure we all mean well and we all have the hope for this or that, but how many put their money where their mouths are? There isn't enough money anyway. You all know the answer to that. And for years Chris has begged for more and more money. Not for him, but for the PAC. Thats where the idea came to him. From the "World's Best Chocolates" to the Florida PT-PAC (#FLPTA) first and then a few more PACs with hopeful PTs across the country, wishing to once in a while win a battle that matter. And now, this idea lets everyone "contribute out of saving money". Imagine that!

Be skeptical. Right now.

Don't believe me that you would save money while you buy what you need AND that same action will raise money for the PAC you choose.

Don't believe me. Be skeptical. The skeptic verifies.

Yet, I did not say be a cinic. The cinic simply will not believe and brush it off.

One thing has always been missing. YOU. The network effect. The word of mouth. The advertising that always works.

Indeed, last year our electrodes left a lot to desire and still we raised over $10K to 10 PACs across the U.S. Needing to make the numbers work to make PT4PT survive long enough for it to eventually work for you, we opted for economy electrodes that were truly substandard. They were too sticky and left some residue sometimes.

Ok, all the time.

We've made the changes needed, improved the electrodes brands and are now still able to raise the same funds to the PACs we promised without losing price competitiveness. We refreshed the whole system to match the millenial standards of ecommerce and yet all of it will not work without the damn network effect.

YOU. US. The word of mouth.

You see, I too want to benefit from this. I am a PT just like you and I too would LIKE my state to win a battle for me once in a while.

Forget PT4PT. Just do the math and you will quickly realize after we purchase the inventory, pay for ads, website and reserve the PAC contributions, not much is left.

So, now that we got that out of the way...how do we get the network effect? How do I get YOU (PT or PTA) to help me, the PT, to score a win in my state. Once in a while. Something that matters to me and to my patient. Something to make me proud. Make me recognizable for the healthcare provider that I am. What can YOU do for ME? What would you do for me on this case that you wouldn't be doing for yourself?

PT4PT is one for all and all for one. It is physical therapists 4 physical therapy after all.

Is it possible PT will ever be able to make a ripple big enough we can be proud to call it a wave?

To generate true network effect?

If you wonder, I am in FL and I support my local state PAC (FPT-PAC) but I really would like YOU to support your own. Support yourself. Your own local PAC and your local peers. You helping me here in FL would be nice - really nice indeed - but it would not have true network effect and the ripple would not look like a wave. You supporting your local PAC (state chapter, member or not does not really matter, truly) would cause a really big wave.

A wave of change.

The network effect.

Armin

Can you imagine?

Can you imagine?

Over $10,000!

With just an idea and a website and not much effort from anyone, together we raised over 10 grand in the support of physical therapy! It has been just over one year and we figured it was about time to pump things up a little and energize the PT4PT idea and give it some gas. There is absolutely no reason why we cannot raise hundreds of thousands if we put a little collective effort.  We can make a difference if we want to. But do we? Collectively? It starts with you reading this blog.

Not having much success in having PACs help themselves (we all know they are not very good fundraisers), we went the extra mile and enrolled all 50 states. As of now, PTs can raise money for their state PACs from coast to coast (with exception to Massachusetts, because their contribution rules are just too complicated for us to keep good track of it all, for now - after all, Chris and I still are a team of volunteers).

Everyone can help. If you do not use electrodes you can promote the idea on your social media, tell your peers, your schools, talk about it on PT Pub Night and so on. World of mouth rules! These things do not cost you money and help PT a lot.

Over the last few months we have been getting requests for rectangular electrodes, so we are adding 2"X3.5" electrodes of the same quality and manufacturing as our original economy 2"X2", both made in China.

We want to make sure we are providing affordable options that still allow us to fundraise and keep the website going. We also added a Premium Quality, made in the USA, 2"X2" electrode that some of you may enjoy and we intend to gradually add additional products to the line up, so here is an opportunity for the PTs that do not use electrotherapy in their practice: tell us your needs and we will look into it. If we can make it work, we will.

Aside from this, and the new website design that we feel is more modern and up-to-date, the other thing worth talking about is the opening we created for additional fundraising campaigns you may create for yourself, for the things you care about. Reach out and lets get it going.
